Interior architectural design firm Siatyun has worked with some of the world’s most luxurious brands. Recognized as one of Asia’s most influential design firms, they were recently hired by Birkenstock to redesign their retail location in Velocity@Novena Square, Singapore’s only shopping mall dedicated to sport and lifestyle.

The Eco Floor Store supplied approximately 35 square feet of outside burl cork for a feature wall within the store. Installed as a backdrop to the illuminated Birkenstock logo, the narrow feature wall is a beautiful design feature that breaks the shoe display.

The use of cork in the space was highly intentional with a triple purpose. Birkenstock footwear uses cork as the primary material in their comfortable soles. The outside burl cork used in the store showcases Birkenstock’s star raw material. In addition to a visual showpiece and materials showcase, the cork feature wall also has acoustic benefits. The sound dampening properties of cork reduces echos in the store helping create a comfortable experience for shoppers.
