The Interior Design Show West is Vancouver’s premier interior design show that features the latest trends in home decor. It’s one of our favourite events because it’s filled with must-have products and always attracts an amazing crowd. This year, we were also happy to see many environmentally friendly products.
Here are our top seven (because we couldn’t agree on five!) picks from this year’s IDSwest:
The Bloom Collection by MTH Woodworks took our breath away. Using reclaimed western red cedars and other BC-sourced materials, the design duo at MTH creates signature pieces that resemble organic art more than furniture.
Vin de Garde
Vin de Garde designs and builds modern wine cellars for clients around the globe. Based in Vancouver, their unique skills – craftsmanship, eye for design, and love of fine wines – combine to create beautiful contemporary and traditional cellars.
Varian Designs uses recycled and sustainably harvested materials to build original furniture. Handmade in San Francisco, each piece has a unique history highlighted by hundred year old nails, insect or weather damage, and other distinctive markings.
This year’s IDSwest had a new component: the One of a Kind district. Billy Would caught our eye because artist Adea only uses reclaimed and recycled materials to create one-of-a-kind jewellery and accessories – like these belt buckles made from old skateboards!
Live Edge Design
We loved the raw look of Live Edge Design’s furniture. They use salvaged trees that have fallen from storms or been left behind by forest companies to build furniture for every room in your home. And they’re local too!
Fawcett MFG is special because their eco-line furniture is 99.9% biodegradable. Based in Victoria, Fawcett designs and manufactures furniture made with materials that will not harm your family or the environment.
We can dream, right? The Karma is the world’s first luxury, high-performance electric car. It’s made in an eco-friendly facility in California and has 403 horsepower, 959 ft-lbs of torque and 54 MPG… Wow!
